Dinkelspiel Auditorium won't go silent with the switch of major events to the new Bing Concert Hall. Far from it.

"The University is so short on auditoria space, there will be programming that will expand into everything available at Dinkelspiel," says Professor Stephen Sano, chair of the department of music and the director of choral studies. "There's a huge need from student arts organizations."

Although Dinkelspiel is not well regarded for its acoustics, it can accommodate a wide variety of performances. Sano points out, for instance, that it has the largest theatrical stage space, which will aid his department's opera scenes workshop. Moreover, he notes, Dinkelspiel has undergone helpful refurbishing in recent years, including a new stage floor and a new lighting system.
