Cardinal Robert McElroy, MA ’76, PhD ’89, was installed as the archbishop of Washington, D.C., just weeks before the recent papal conclave.

Stanford’s artistic swimming and women’s water polo team members are familiar with rising to the occasion. Each team picked up its 10th national title in the spring. Meanwhile, sailing won its fourth women’s national title, in the team race.

2024 Olympic bronze medalist Grant Fisher, ’19, MS ’23, had the wind in his sails earlier this year when he set two indoor world records in less than a week—running the men’s 3,000 meters in 7 minutes, 22.91 seconds, and the 5,000 meters in 12:44.09.

Speaking of going the extra mile, professor of computer science Mehran Sahami, ’92, MS ’93, PhD ’99, won the Richard W. Lyman Award for giving his time and expertise to the alumni community.

Elic Ayomanor, ’25, understands commitment to the Volunteer State. The wide receiver was picked up by the Tennessee Titans in the 2025 NFL draft.

And Kathleen DuVal, ’92, has become a titan of another kind. She won the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in history for her book Native Nations: A Millennium in North America.
