Innovative live shows are becoming the Harmonics’ artistic signature, but their most recent album, Escape Velocity (2008), also garnered accolades for its production techniques and sound, including the award for best mixed collegiate album from the Contemporary A Cappella Society.
The membership of the Harmonics partially changes each year as singers leave and are added. Strong continuity in recent years stems from the work of Charlie Forkish, ’09, the departing music director who also was the group’s production guru for Escape Velocity. His efforts depend, obviously, on all the voices.
This year, the rest of the roster is Davey Feder, ’11; Robbie Ruelas, ’11; Caleb Jordan, ’12; Peter Zou, ’12; Matt Rubin, ’12; Katy Storch, ’12; Kali Lindsay, ’12; David Larson, ’13; Evan Smith, ’13; Sarah Rudolph, ’13; Ellen Le, ’13 and doctoral student Jackie Ou.
At last spring’s show, the performers in addition to Forkish, Feder, Ruelas, Jordan, Lindsay and Rubin were Jenn Kim, ’08; Esther Kang, ’09; Ben Cunningham, ’10; Erica Lozoya, ’10; Kate McGrath, ’10; Sarah Grandin, ’11 and Ben Lauing, ’11.
