Huge congratulations to Mark Pearson, who recently wed Polona Kostomaj in Slovenia. Several classmates, including best man Tom Dickson, made the trip to attend the wedding. All reports are that it was a traditional Slovenian wedding ceremony that began at 1 p.m. and finished the next morning at about dawn! I don't know if this qualifies for the Guinness Book or not, but Mark says that 157 shots of Slivovitz were served between 2 and 4 a.m. Mark and Polona met in Tokyo, where Mark was practicing law and Polona was a Slovenian diplomat. They reside in Hong Kong, where Mark is a principal at Forum Partners, a private equity fund manager.
Tamara Fountain, who lives in Northbrook, Ill., recently linked up with several classmates passing through the Chicago area, and shared news of each. Charlotte Hill-Skura, who has lived in Beverly Hills, Calif., for a few years, recently dropped her middle son off for his freshman year at Northwestern. Annette (Steppe) and Eric Mullins ran the heat-indexed Chicago Marathon and stayed with Tamara before the race. Coming from their home in Houston, the Mullinses were somewhat used to the heat that shut the race down. Tamara also reports that one of my own Toyon freshman roommates, Sidney Bundrage Dillard, lives and works in Chicago and gets together with Tamara when classmates visit from out of town. Last spring, they hosted Jamie Elizabeth Terry, who was visiting from Houston. Roy “Teddy” Jones and Tamara are the parents of high school teenagers now. Both attended Stanford sports camps last summer. Their daughter ran into Gina Davis Carroll's daughter walking across campus. Teddy is a fixed income investment banker at Wachovia. Tamara continues the practice of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, “trying to keep people looking beautiful,” she says. If any classmates are ever in the Windy City, the Fountain-Joneses have a guest room waiting for you!
