When Alisa Lewis became a mom, she never wanted to lose her sense of style. But with a small child and a full-time job, Lewis, '93, soon realized that a mother's greatest luxury is time. So she created Sweet Peas & Stilettos. The website brings together her top picks for the modern mom, from eco-friendly products to child-related charities, all presented in a breezy style that will lighten any overwhelmed mother's day.

"If I wouldn't wear it, buy it, or travel to it myself, I wouldn't put it on my site," she says.

Abigail Tuller, editor-in-chief of Pregnancy Magazine, featured Lewis as a guest stylist in the May 2010 issue. She says there's more to the site than just shopping. "There's a lot of heart behind all that fashion."

For example, the site's "Shop for a Cause" section highlights socially responsible retailers, and the very personal "Sole Searching" chronicles Lewis's own life through her favorite pairs of shoes.

"So many of the mom websites are corporate," she points out. "I want my site to feel as if it's written by a friend."

And in fact, many of her motherhood muses are former Stanford classmates.
