A caregiving dinosaur comforts a young one in the garden of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, which opened its new main building in December. Families and medical practitioners worked together to design an environment that would adapt to changes in pediatric care, place patients’ families at the center of that care, and harness the healing power of nature. The expansion more than doubles the size of the hospital, which opened in 1991.
