Pink, yellow, green and red powder flew through the air at Sand Hill Field for Holi, an annual celebration sponsored by the charitable organization Asha Stanford. Also called the Festival of Colors, Holi is an Indian tradition heralding the arrival of spring. The ritual of spattering one another with brightly tinted gulal signifies putting aside differences, shedding inhibitions and embracing the spirit of the season. Proceeds from the event, which draws several thousand people from around the Bay Area, benefit education-related projects in India. See more images from the Festival of Colors.
