- English professor Seth Lerer won the 2008 National Book Critics Circle award for criticism for Children’s Literature: A Reader’s History from Aesop to Harry Potter. Kathryn Harrison, ’82, was a finalist for the group’s Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing.
- Kathryn Ma, ’78, MA ’78, won the 2009 Iowa Short Fiction Award for her collection All That Work and Still No Boys.
