Batman has the Batcave, Superman the Fortress of Solitude, but where might Captain Cardinal hang his cape? According to the readers of the Palo Alto Weekly, the Man of Stanford would take refuge in Hoover Tower. This year for its annual "Best of" issue the newspaper chose a superhero theme with categories such as "city figure most likely to be a hero in disguise" and "best place to deliver a villainous monologue" in addition to the more standard fare of best restaurants and services. Local denizens voted the campus landmark as the "best superhero headquarters," noting that the tower provides "the perfect vantage point for spotting crimes and thwarting them just in time."
