Two Stanford golf careers have concluded with a flourish: Senior Cameron Wilson (left) won the NCAA individual men's title, and junior Patrick Rodgers, who is forgoing his remaining eligibility to turn professional, was named the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Wilson, who follows Sandy Tatum, '42, JD '50, and Tiger Woods, '98, in capturing the individual crown, defeated Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans by dropping a birdie putt on the third hole of a playoff. Rodgers, the Cardinal's second Nicklaus award winner (Woods won in 1996), notched six victories during the 2013-14 collegiate season and tied Woods's school record of 11 career wins.
The men's team, which captured its first conference championship since 1994, got as far as the national tournament semifinals, where it succumbed to Oklahoma State.
