When Jane and Leland Stanford established the university that bears their son's name, they declared that "the children of California shall be our children." In the years since, of course, Stanford students have come from well beyond the Golden State, and then scattered to every corner of the planet. Today, Stanford alumni live in 134 countries, from Afghanistan to Zambia. Here is a small sampling of the many places they call home.
