Inspired by a movie scene in which Jack Nicholson’s backside is exposed as he walks down a hospital hallway, longtime benefactor Helen Bing teamed up with Stanford Hospital officials and renowned PJ designer Karen Neuburger to create more dignified options for patients. In addition to long gowns that tie on the side—shown here on Caryn Kunkle, associate director of special patient services—the sleepwear includes pajama tops, drawstring pants, and gowns that accommodate IV equipment and mammogram patients.
