The women's basketball team brought down University of Connecticut, and Stanford fans brought down the house. On December 30, the Cardinal snapped a Division I-record UConn winning streak at 90 games by beating the Huskies 71-59. The Cardinal led from start to finish.
The sellout Maples Pavilion crowd of 7,329 was so thunderous it sounded twice as large—which probably will jibe with how many people eventually claim to have been there as history unfolded.
