Backstage during a rehearsal for My Fair Lady, Hye Jeong Yoon, ’14, and Jessica Asperger, ’13, touch up their makeup for the “smashing, positively dashing” Royal Ascot scene—in which a transformed Eliza Doolittle makes her society debut. The production by the student-run Asian American Theater Project (co-founded by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, ’79) reimagines the Broadway classic to explore issues of class and race within Asian immigrant communities living in Edwardian London.
