Members of the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band will not face criminal prosecution for vandalizing the Band Shak in July. Jay Boyarsky, supervising deputy district attorney for Santa Clara County, said in November that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute some dozen Band members for causing $30,000 to $50,000 damage to a temporary modular unit. He cited “adequate systems in place at Stanford University, including the Office of Judicial Affairs and the recently formed Band Reinstatement Committee,” and said his office would rely on those groups to enforce “restitution and accountability.”
