High school senior A.J. McDonald traveled from the Flathead Reservation in Arlee, Mont., to reign as head man dancer at the 29th Stanford Powwow in mid-May. Run by Stanford students, the traditional Native American gathering on campus is one of the three largest on the West Coast, drawing an estimated 30,000 celebrators this year.
