Tree Loses Its Bark

Rod Searcey

Is the tree the new Axe? In January, thieves made off with the mascot’s costume for the third time in less than two years, prompting Band members to point across the Bay. “Well, obviously the villains behind the crime have an abundance of time on their hands, a hatred of children and all things fun, and a heart three sizes too small. . . . We’re guessing it was the Weenies,” junior Chris Holt told the Stanford Daily.

Senior Isaac Salier-Hellendag, the man inside the Tree, is building a new costume, which he promises will be better than ever. “On a scale of 1 to 10, the old costume was an 11. The new one will be a 13.”
