Receipts from dinner with a certain Enzo Ferrari. Everything you could possibly want to know about the 1969 Porsche 911 lineup. A photo history of just about every model of automobile purchasable during the past 65 years.

Those items just scratch the surface—oops, we shouldn't use that phrase when talking cars—of the Road & Track magazine archives recently donated to Stanford. The materials date from the publication's founding in 1947 and reflect growing recognition of the academic breadth of the University's Revs Program, whose courses and research include the design of new technologies for controlling and powering vehicles.

Stanford Libraries began inventory and preservation work on the archives when they arrived via two tractor-trailers in October. There were 527 boxes about the size of laundry baskets, collectively weighing more than 10,000 pounds. Revs executive director Reilly Brennan says the goal is to make a portion of the content available digitally.
