Every 10 years since 1983, the literary magazine Granta has published a list of the 20 best young British novelists; it has become known for selecting authors who go on to have stellar careers. In 1996, Granta created a similar list for the United States. The current list of 21 best young American novelists (now defined as under 35), contains three Farm names: Nicole Krauss, ’96, MA ’96, and Z.Z. Packer and Akhil Sharma, former Stegner fellows.
