The Real Story About Dating

Courtesy Mark Geller

Tired of meeting a great potential mate only to find out she lives in Argentina instead of Florida? Mark Geller feels for you. After a few bad dates, Geller, ’91, MS ’91, decided online daters needed a place where they could find support and trade stories. And warn each other. Yes, at TrueDater.com you can post a review of that not-so-special someone you met through one of several dating sites, including Match.com and Yahoo! Personals. Those who misrepresent themselves (used a 10-year-old photo; lied about his weight; is married) are not “TrueDaters.” Conversely, if a person’s online profile is accurate, but she’s just not the one for you, you can give a positive review.

The site, which launched in January, has seen a 50 percent increase in reviews every month. Geller hopes it will become a community for online daters beyond simply sharing information. At the very least, it will save someone from the professed homeowner who actually still lives with his mom.
