Engine revved and music thumping, the JL421 Badonkadonk often can be found tearing across campus, leaving people wondering what exactly they just saw. The brainchild of former Stanford Band drummers Neal Ormond, ’01 (shown), and Frank Pollock, ’03, the mini land tank made its 2002 debut at the Burning Man festival in Nevada and now appears regularly at Band events. But don’t let the Donk’s rust patina fool you. Its interior—which comfortably seats five—is carpeted and upholstered, and fitted with a premium sound system and mood lighting. Amazon.com shoppers can take the wheel of a customized Donk for only $19,999.95. There have been no buyers thus far.
