Nicole Krauss, '96, MA '96, author of The History of Love, is the fiction winner of the $12,500 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, awarded by the Stanford University Libraries and the William Saroyan Foundation. • MSNBC started its prime-time TV show The Rachel Maddow Show to showcase commentator Rachel Maddow, '94. • Mara Manus, '81, is the new executive director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center. • Elaine Buckholtz, MFA '06, and Ala Ebtekar, MFA '06, are among the artists featured, through November 16, in Bay Area Now 5, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' triennial. • The libretto for The Fly, which had its U.S. premiere at the L.A. Opera in September, was written by David Henry Hwang, '79.
