Seven Stanford scholars were among 178 new fellows and 24 foreign honorary members named in April to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The society, founded in 1780, promotes intellectual achievement and public engagement. The University’s honorees are: Andrew Fire, professor of pathology and genetics; Jeremy Bulow, professor of economics; Joan Bresnan, professor of linguistics; Mark Lepper, ’66, professor and chair of psychology; Jonathan Bendor, professor of political economics and organizations; Avner Greif, professor of economics; and Robert Conquest, senior research fellow at the Hoover Institution.
