Fred Savage isn't really a freshly minted college grad making his way in the dog-eat-dog world of corporate America.
He just plays one on TV.
The Stanford senior and former star of the 1988-93 series The Wonder Years stopped out this fall to star in a new NBC sitcom, Working (Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.). The show follows the comic travails of Matt Peyser, a Dilbert-like everyman trying to figure out the rules of paper shuffling and office politics.
"I've shown the first few scripts to some friends who've graduated. They said it's pretty accurate," says the 21-year-old English major, who plans to finish his degree when the show is not taping. Meanwhile, he keeps up with campus life and friends through daily phone calls. "That's the hardest part," he says. "They mean more to me than anything."
