As exciting as genome research is, it doesn't tell the whole Homo sapiens story. In his latest book, biological sciences professor Paul R. Ehrlich decries a growing belief that our genes dictate our behavior as well as eye color. He argues that there are many "human natures," which result as much from cultural as genetic influences, and that the ways humans interact can change surprisingly quickly--and even become extinct--through a process of "cultural evolution."
