By many measures, it was a typical Commencement. It was hot. Senior Audrey Chang accepted an award with a pineapple on her head. Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, '76, wove humor, advice, and references to Camus into her speech. And it was hot.
But the June 17 ceremony had an unusually political flavor. Former President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton were among the many parents using cell phones to locate their daughter on the field (hint: she was playing kickball). And as University President John Hennessy thanked departing vice provost for student affairs Jim Montoya, '75, MA '78, seniors began to chant "four more years!" Probably what they were wishing for themselves.
