Going Once, Going Twice -- Sold

OK, so everyone knows that the Cardinal won the 100th Big Game. But the results of the Stanford-Cal Big Auction received less fanfare. More than 2,100 alumni of the two schools gathered at San Francisco's Cow Palace the night before the game to bid on 330 items. Guests, who paid up to $1,000 to attend, dined on filet mignon, prawns and salmon -- and tiny chocolate helmets, complete with team logos. Two auctioneers from Christie's fielded bids, and the event netted about $2 million for athletics scholarships to be divided equally between the two schools. Some of the choicest merchandise:
