Reunion Homecoming drew more than 8,700 alums, family and friends to campus October 9-12. It was perfect football weather for tailgates and a win over Arizona by the Cardinal; while the weight of world issues drew capacity crowds to serious discussions such as the roundtable on leadership hosted by President John Hennessy and moderated by NBC’s Tom Brokaw. Dinner on the Quad featured entertainment by the Fleet Street Singers, and the men’s swim team kept up what has become a reunion tradition—wowing registrants with a runaround at the Ford Center. Among numerous special-interest events: a minireunion for former Stanford Daily staffers from the Class of ’88; a get-together honoring Stanford Olympians, including water polo silver medalist Peter Hudnut, ’03. All in all, the festivities attracted every Stanford generation, from LSJUMB member Jordan Knox, ’10 to Class of ’93 events chairs Angela Walton, MS ’97 and Ayanna Bennett, and from members of the Class of ’48 to 1963’s attendance chairs Carol “Toddy” Kuiper, MA ’63 and Alan Douglas, JD ’66.
