Engineers Named to Hall of Fame, Academy

Three Stanford engineering professors have been named to prestigious scientific organizations. Bradford Parkinson, PhD ’66, professor emeritus of aeronautics and astronautics and co-inventor with Ivan Getting of the Global Positioning System, was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame on May 1. Brian Cantwell, professor of aeronautics and astronautics, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in February for his work in fast-burning fuels for hybrid propulsion. Also named to the NAE was Bob Street, MS ’57, PhD ’63, professor of civil and environmental engineering, for contributions to environmental fluid dynamics and river restoration.
